Privacy policy
In short
The file you import (your Instagram, Threads or TikTok export) is read only by your browser. It is never sent to our servers, and we cannot see your followers, messages or logins. A few optional features send limited data, only when you use them: they are listed below.
1. Who is responsible
FollowersChecker is published by Ahmed Ben Haj Yahia, an individual based in Tunisia. Contact: contact@followerschecker.com or the contact page.
2. Your data export
The analysis runs in JavaScript, on your device. The data read from your file stays in the memory of the browser tab and disappears when you close it. No copy is transmitted to us or kept by us.
3. What is saved in your browser
For convenience, the site saves a few items in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device:
- the usernames of your followers at your last analysis and its date, to show who unfollowed you next time;
- follower and following counts of past analyses, for the history chart;
- the accounts you chose to ignore, and your choices in the cleanup assistant (“keep” / “unfollow”);
- your username and a few numbers from your last analysis, to welcome you by name on your next visit (the “Forget” button removes them);
- your language and light/dark mode.
Your messages, logins and advertising data are never saved. You can erase everything with “Erase data saved in this browser” at the bottom of the home page, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
4. Optional features that send data
- Locating logins (Security tab): if you click “Locate”, the IP addresses from your login history, and only them, are sent to country.is, which returns the country.
- Report by email: if you ask for it, your email address, the PDF report created on your device and a few summary numbers are sent to our sending function, then delivered by our email provider (Resend). Nothing is kept by us; the provider may keep a technical log for a limited time. We never add you to a mailing list. An anti-bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) may receive technical information about your browser.
- Leaving a review: the first name, optional username, rating and text you write are sent to our host (Netlify Forms) so we can read them. A review is only published on the site with your consent and after we check it. Ask us via the contact page to have it removed.
- Watching a video: TikTok or Instagram videos are only loaded when you tap them. The platform then receives your IP address and may set its own cookies.
5. Advertising and cookies
The site is free and funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or identifiers to show ads, measure them and, only with your consent, personalize them.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, your consent is collected by a Google-certified consent banner. You can change it at any time from the link this banner provides.
- Learn more: how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings.
Details are in our cookie policy.
6. Technical services
To display the site, your browser contacts our host (Netlify), which may keep technical connection logs, and Google Fonts for the typeface. The libraries that read ZIP files and create the PDF are served directly by our site.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, erase and object to the processing of your data. Since we keep almost nothing about you on our servers, most of these rights are exercised directly in your browser (section 3). For any question, write to us via the contact page. The site is published from Tunisia and also follows Tunisian Organic Law No. 2004-63 of 27 July 2004 on personal data protection. You can complain to the INPDP (inpdp.tn, Tunisia) or to your own data protection authority.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
