Can you see who viewed your Instagram profile?
It’s one of the most searched questions about Instagram, and the honest answer is short: no. Instagram doesn’t show who visits your profile, and it doesn’t share this information with any other app or website.
So any service that promises a list of your “profile visitors” is guessing, inventing, or trying to get your password. Here’s what you can really see, and how to get the closest honest answer.
What Instagram really shows you
- Story viewers: the names of people who watched your story, while it’s online and for a short time after (about 48 hours in total).
- Live viewers: the people watching your live video while it’s running.
- Likes and comments on your posts and reels. For reels and videos, you see a number of views, not who watched.
- Professional accounts (creator or business) get Insights: how many people visited the profile, reach, interactions. These are totals, never names.
Profile visits by name are not part of any of these features.
Why “who viewed my profile” apps are a trap
Since Instagram doesn’t give this data to anyone, these apps can only do three things:
- Make up a list from people who liked or commented on your posts, and present it as “visitors”.
- Ask for your username and password, which gives a stranger full access to your account. It’s a classic way accounts get hacked.
- Charge a subscription for results that are random or empty.
If you already entered your password in one of these apps, change it now and check your logins: our guide to a hacked Instagram account explains how.
Does your data export show profile visitors?
No. Your official Instagram export contains your own activity: your followers and following, your messages, your likes and comments, your searches, your logins. It doesn’t contain the people who looked at your profile, because Instagram doesn’t give you that list.
What the export does show is more useful: who you really interact with. In FollowersChecker, the Relationships tab draws your inner circle from your messages, likes and comments. Read who are your best friends on Instagram to see how it works.
The reverse question: will they know I looked?
- Visiting a profile or a post: no, the person isn’t told.
- Watching a story: yes, your name appears in their story viewers.
- A like by mistake sends a notification, even if you remove it quickly.

Analyze my accountFrequently asked questions
Does the order of my story viewers show who visits my profile?
No. Instagram says this order depends on your activity and interactions. It’s an algorithm, not a list of visitors.
Do private accounts change anything?
No. Public or private, Instagram never shows who visited your profile.
Can a professional account see who viewed its profile?
It sees the number of profile visits in Insights, but never the names.
Is there any legitimate tool to see profile visitors?
No. Any tool that claims to do it is guessing or collecting your login. Read are unfollower apps safe? before installing one.
